Wellbeing
At St Bede’s, the wellbeing of every student is at the heart of our mission as a Catholic community. We believe that children learn and thrive when they feel safe, valued, and connected. Guided by the example of Jesus and the Catholic values of love and respect, we provide programs and opportunities that nurture the whole child, spiritually, socially, emotionally and academically.
Personal and Social Curriculum
We use the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) resource to explicitly teach social and emotional learning across the school. The program is taught over an eight-topic, two-year cycle and is framed through a Catholic lens, supporting students to grow in compassion, respect, and responsibility.
The curriculum helps students develop important life skills as they explore the topics:
-
Emotional literacy
-
Personal strengths
-
Positive coping
-
Problem solving
-
Help-seeking
-
Gender and identity
-
Positive relationships
-
Stress management

Wellbeing Programs
At St Bede’s, we believe that student wellbeing is the foundation of all successful learning. Our comprehensive approach to pastoral care ensures that every child feels safe, supported, and empowered to grow.
Our Core Wellbeing Programs
We utilise evidence-based frameworks and community-focused initiatives to nurture social and emotional development:
-
Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships (RRRR): A core part of our curriculum designed to develop students' social, emotional and positive relationship skills.
-
Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL): A whole-school framework that promotes a positive and inclusive culture, encouraging students to act with kindness and integrity.
-
Buddy Program: Every student is part of our buddy system, where older students mentor and support younger ones to foster a sense of belonging across all year levels.
-
Mindfulness & Meditation: We incorporate daily moments of Christian meditation and mindfulness to help students improve focus and learn self-regulation.
-
Student Leadership & Voice: We empower our students through the SRC and Leadership programs, ensuring their ideas and feedback shape our school life.
-
Lunchtime Clubs: Structured activities including craft, gardening, choir, Library and various "Peaceful Play" activities to support social connection during break times.
-
Wellbeing Space: a tranquil, thoughtfully designed sanctuary within the school where students can pause, practise self-regulation and find the quiet support they need to recharge their emotional batteries.
