COMMUNICATION

St Bede’s Primary School recognises that clear communication underpins strong home–school partnerships. The school aims to develop clear, two-way communication that fosters a strong community network and supports student learning. A summary of the tools used to communicate with parents include:

  • Operoo (communication about and permissions for events and excursions as well as medical information)

  • Email (individual communication with teacher)

  • Newsletter (fortnightly summary of school news)

  • Seesaw App (communication about learning)

  • Skoolbag App (communication about absences, administration matters, upcoming events, reminders)

  • Social Media - Twitter and Instagram (communication about learning, achievements and events)

  • Website (quick links, policies, general information)

PARISH EDUCATION BOARD (PEB)

The parish of St Anne and St Bede, Kew East and North Balwyn meet regularly as the PEB to develop and profile the role of education in our community. Each school along with members of the local parish committees meets as a combined group before separating to complete their individual responsibilities.

Membership of the Parish Education Board incorporates:

  • The Parish Priest

  • Parish Pastoral Associate

  • School Principals

  • Staff Representatives

  • St Bede’s Parent Representatives

  • St Anne’s Parent Representatives

  • St Bede’s and St Anne’s Parish Groups, e.g. Baptism Group, RCIA

This is an advisory board which supports the Parish Priest, School Principals and parishioners in the education and development of all community members.

Membership of the Board is open to any parents interested in discussing and promoting education. Nominations and elections for the School Board take place in February of each year.

PARENTS' ASSOCIATION (PA)

The Parents’ Association (PA) exists to actively promote the building of St Bede’s School community and to provide financial support for the school’s activities.

The committee works in close liaison with the Principal and staff; priorities for funding initiatives are determined by consultation based on the needs of the school.

Throughout the year the Social Sub-Committee of the PA organises a variety of functions to bring parents, families and friends together for social and/or fundraising activities.

The PA also oversees our second hand uniform sales, our care group and class representative roles. All of these activities add greatly to the very supportive and vibrant school community.
